Principals will often let a teacher break a contract if a
replacement can be found. Unless you are in a critical
shortage area, there are others that can fill your vacancy. I
would suggest that you discuss your struggles with your
department chair and principal to "test the waters" on
breaking a contract.
This economy should help anyone who wants to get out of
teaching find a way. Your principal probably recognizes the
fact that you are struggling, anyway.
