Well, I have thought about alternating, but reading would have to
be everyday because I would have a lot of parents upset. That is
the major subject the state looks at to grade me. My reading
standards are very different from 3rd grade and more like 5th
grade, so I have a lot of new ones to cover. A lot of them have
to be taught in isolation. I would never cover them all if i
taught them every third day. Also, i use chapter books in my
classroom, but that may have to change. I may be forced to read
passages all year and no books. Spelling is not a big one with
me because I can address that in the writing when I conference
with the students. Grammar, however, is another big subject that
our county is looking at this year. In reading and la,
figurative language and adverbs, etc....are all new to the
students.
Really, I don't see how I can teach all the standards and give my
kids 45 minutes for writing, so I guess I will just do as much
as I can and pray!
Thanks for your response though. :)
