I took that test in January 2010. I don't remember a lot of material from the test. However, I can tell you this. My only source of studying was the GACE website and the XAM study guidebook. I did fine on the test and I wasn't even an education major. I do remember that there were A LOT of situational type questions. Also, I don't really remember any questions on the exam about authors. I would say make sure you do remember different reading strategies. One of my written response questions asked me to correct a student's writing. The other asked what is a observational chart and how can I utilize it in the classroom. I hope this helps.
