I am also a stay at home mom who have taught home school students. For my recertification, I contacted regional RESA as well as talked to several people in person. You may not need PLUs to renew your certification this time around. Check with Professional Standards Commission.
I was out of the country for the last few years, so every time I came back to GA, I took a course or two so that I would be ready to renew...didn't need it!
