Can anyone offer some advice or enlightenment on this

situation?

The science teachers (Earth, Life and Physical) in my

middle school were told that we would all need to teach

health classes this year, since P.E. teachers couldn't

schedule it into their time. Health classes are, of

course, a state mandate. The classes will be taught for

30 minutes a day over a nine week period. Our concerns

are two-fold:

1. Not enough instruction time is being given to this

class to meet state mandates.

2. Even though we've been told by the "P.T.B." that we

all are "qualified" to teach health and that everything

is fine on that score--we can find nothing in the GAPSC CAPS system that indicates Science teachers are automatically qualified to teach health.
