Re: sending my "haole" children to Hawaii's schools
Posted by anonymous on 1/14/06

If your a fairskinned oriental you will get picked on and
beaten. I was taller than average and fair so I didn't fit in.
I'm from Oahu and was harassed and got into fights. I hated
it, and sometimes watched military kids get beaten by Hawaiians.
The worst racism was in Maryland to date. Alot of blacks hate
orientals and whites there. I COME TO UNDERSTAND HOW "SHALLOW"
RACISM IS, A RACIST HATES A PERSON ON SKINCOLOR AND NOT WHAT'S
ON THE INSIDE. THAT IS LIKE DISLIKING A BOOK BASED ON THE COVER
AND NOT ON THE CONTENTS. HOW FOOLISH IS THAT?

If coming to live in Hawaii, being considerate and showing it
helps. You will always get some form of racism if you're not on
the military bases. It would also help to learn some of the
Hawaiian culture and language, and slangs.

I homeschooled here, it can be done in Hawaii.

All in all be happy no matter what the circumstances, forgive,
and find nice people to hang out with. Because if you look hard
enough you will find them here. A minority of people from
Hawaii are NOT racist or bigots. All I can say is that I pray
racism is history in Hawaii. God bless you.
