No offense to your friend, but OF COURSE someone from
Roosevelt is going to discourage you from going to UoP!
Roosevelt wants you to spend your money there, not on a
school that charges less than half the tuition.
I'm sure there are employers who look down on on-line
coursework, especially if the majority of your college
career was done on-line. You would be missing the benefits
of real-time interaction with professors and students. I
think it also depends on the type of industry or profession.
However, I don't think on-line coursework can be totally
ruled out simply because it opens doors for people who might
not normally be able to commute to school and attend class
on a fixed schedule, such as stay-at-home parents, or people
with disabilities and illnesses for whom travel is difficult.
But what is really important is that ISBE accepts UoP
courses for certification. That's all that really matters.
More and more teachers are taking on-line courses to add
endorsements or complete degrees.
