It helps if you are employed in a school or have some kind of access to school personnel. If you're not working and you don't know anyone who works for a school, you will have to make phone calls to see if you can find people to help you and give you information. Also, you're expected to get the work done as assigned, even if the course takes place in the summer or over holiday breaks. I think the courses were helpful...not the same as going to a class in person, but beneficial in different ways. For instance, in the online course, every student is required to post so many times a week. So you get to read everyone's comments and perspectives; in a regular class, you might have students who have interesting things to say but are too shy to speak up.
