Illinois just has the one exam (high school and middle
school) in all the subjects. I don't know about other states,
or why this is.
I also think using the summer to study is a good idea, and I
am doing this too.
I borrowed high school textbooks from the library, although
the pace is a little slow. Then I bought the study problems
from www.praxisiimath.com/il in part because the author is
willing to email back and forth and discuss his problems.
