I know that in the Champaign/Urbana and Bloomington areas, there is an
overabundance of teacher applicants. I guess I should say that in West
Central Illinois and Southern Illinois there is more of a need. The
districts are spread out, class sizes are very small, and the pay can
be much lower. Of course, the cost of living is outrageously cheap.
Sonny and his wife bought land and a house with 3-car garage, detached
two-door garage, and above ground pool. The house has 4 bedrooms and 2
1/2 baths. It was built around 1980. And it sits on 2 1/2 acres. Up
here in Northern Illinois, that house would bring at least $400,000.
They got it for a little over 1/2 that price. So, look at some of the
smaller districts.
