Post: Summer unemployment money

I am a teacher at a private school in Illinois. We are
paid on a 10 month schedule, and while I thought I would
have enough money saved up for the summer, some medical
expenses ate up my savings. I am looking for a job but
have found nothing so far, even babysitting. As a last
resort, I am looking into filing for unemployment just for
a couple of months. Has anyone ever done this for the
summer? I do not really know how it works, but my school
has very little money. Does it all come from the
government, or would it be an extra burden on my school?
I am continuing at this school in the fall (provided it's
still open...still waiting for enrollment), so my insurance
benefits carry through the summer, but pay does not.
I looked on the Illinois government website, but it is so
confusing to me on how to apply. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks!
