I am 39 and planning to make a career switch to teaching.
I've decided on ELL because of the relative demand. Here's
my question... if I am just getting started in the Fall,
and it takes 2 years, I'll be over 40 by the time I'm
looking for my first position. Will my age be a detriment?
Also, I earned a Masters in Philosophy about 12 years ago.
This is obviously not going to count for anything in my job
search but will it mean that a district would have to pay
me more, even though it's in an unrelated field? Hoping
not.
