It normally takes about 3 weeks. Now is a good time to get it
in. There's nothing to stop you from applying, but there are
two problems with your plan. First of all, you may have
deficiencies with you application and it may take several
months to clear those up. Second my experience was that no one
would give me the time of day until I had a real IL
certificate. The provisional one they offer is garbage in the
eyes of all public school administrators I talked to. Lastly,
it's the end of November. There aren't a whole lot of jobs out
there right now. Best of luck to you though.
