Re: how long for application process

I have a type 03 K-9 certificate. Don't wait to send your application in.
Send it in ASAP so you can find out what your deficiencies are. If it's
just the APT test, fine you're signed up to take it. I'd take it sooner so
that your certificate was all in order by April. If you have to take the
Content exam you can do that on the same day as the APT. It's
significantly easier than the PRAXIS II. However, if for some reason you
have to take coursework, I'd want to know that now so that I could sign up
for classes in the Spring Semester and get my certificate in order by the
end of May and not have to wait a year.
I am speaking from experience. I applied in March of 2007. It took about 3
weeks to be processed. Then it took 9+ months to remove all the
deficiencies. There is no harm in applying now and it could save you a lot
of stress come May. I had to spend a year of essentially indentured
servitude in the Catholic schools because they were the only ones who
would hire me with a Provisional Certificate.
