I took SPE 500? - an Intro to Special ed class through
National-Louis as part of my MAT. I also took a characteristics
class with them because my other option was two through University
of Phoenix. Now, it cost the same, but I learned next to nothing. I
took the methods (SPE 511) and assessment (SPE 512) through
University of Phoenix. I thought I was just saving money doing
that, but I actually learned more from those two classes than
anything else. I felt that the online classes were much more work
than I have ever done showing up to class, but I think it was worth
it.
After I finished the classes I took the state test and filled out
the forms with my ROE. Now I read on here somewhere that you should
make sure they approve your classes before you take them. I took
three of them before I did that. At this time I tried to add the
LBS1 on the ECS website, but I don't know if you can do that
anymore. They sent me a letter saying what I was missing. I sent
back course descriptions, which they approved.
I think there are LBS1 endorsement programs at a few places -
Roosevelt and National- Louis come to mind. They are pricey though.
