It's certainly a big negative. I don't feel comfortable saying
you absolutely won't get a job, but IL is a pretty tight
teacher job market, in most fields, so something like that
might sink you with public schools. Private schools, and some
smaller districts are less likely to do a background check that
goes out-of-state. I'm not telling you to lie, but not every
district wants to spend the money on a background check for all
50 states. Mine, a fairly large one, just started, and I can
see that being phased out to save money in lean times. Take
that info for what it's worth and make your own decision.
