I subbed for years. I am certified in special ed. k-12 and el ed
k-9, with a middle school endorsement.I am also endorsed in
reading/language arts and social studies. I subbed all grades
and subjects. I wasn't called back because of my endorsements
and certifications. I was called back for my classroom
abilities. Trust me, middle school math was a killer, but I got
through it.
Now that I am an 8th grade reading/language arts and social
studies teacher, I look for subs who follow my plans and have
classroom control. One of our school's favorite subs is retired
military and retired from business. He's 65 years old and is a
natural. I have a couple of difficult classes, and he keeps them
in line and on task. No ed degree, just a natural affinity for
teaching this age group. I'm almost jealous of him!
So, I guess if another person is being called ahead of you, and
you are doing a good job there, it just might be that that
person is a better fit for that school. I wish you the best.
