Re: Art Content - QUESTIONS/Answers Aubree read this

Re: Wo-Hoo- Thank you, thank you- here's how I did it!
    Posted by Sarah on 9/07/07

Thank you Thank you to all who have posted the lists. I just got my scores, and passed
it all. What a relief! Here's what I did. I took all the lists that people have posted
and made flash cards for every item on the list that I didn't know (which was a lot!!!).
I then looked them all up- Google is wonderful and Art History books. (Hit the public
library). I checked out videos to watch- Sister Wendy's History of Painting- and Simon
Schama's "The Power of Art". I bought the ETS practice test book and here's the way it
was most helpful: I took the practice tests, and then looked up every answer that I
missed, both the right answers and the wrong answers- but the BIGGEST help was the essay
practice. They give you 1 hour to write 3 essays. That's 20 minutes per essay. Each
essay has 2 parts- so that is 10 minutes per part- to read the question, formulate your
answer and write it. Not a lot of time! I left the essay practice until I had studied
everything else. I didn't peek ahead at the questions- (even though I wanted to) and
when I felt I was ready I tackled the essays. I set the timer for 20 minutes, started
reading the question and writing my essay. The things that I realized in writing the
essay were 1) You really do not have a lot of time to do it and 2) write EVERYTHING that
pops into your head. (The painting has a lot of red in it. Red is a very strong color)
OK- that is a bit silly- but not far off from what I did. During the test I set my watch
for 60 minutes, and watched the time very carefully, making sure that I would have time
for all three questions. There were only 2 other people taking the art test and they
both commented that they did not have enough time. (One of them did not even get to the
third question). I had plenty of time- I even had time at the end to go back to the
sections that I didn't feel were long enough and added more words. WATCH THE TIME!!! And
practice the time. I know this is long winded- but I hope that it will help someone else
as much as this site has helped me. I am just paying it forward. Also, one last thing-
Read Faith Ringgold's Tar Beach- and the author information in the back. If you get that
question it will be very helpful. Good luck to all- and thanks again!

Here is the information I found and at the end here you will see what the girl said about the Faith
Ringgold Tar Beach. Is this what you were looking for?
