Post: Resigning late in the summer

Posted by Job Hunter on 7/30/08

Has anyone ever resigned to take another position late in
the summer (first week of August)? I have a chance to leave
for a school district closer to my home, and although I have
had a good experience where I am at, I hate to leave them
with such short notice. The new school is starting nearly 2
weeks later than my current one, and I am thinking of
offering to work those 2 weeks to give them nearly 4 weeks
    to look for my replacement.

I am really torn on what to do here. Any advice?
