Hello everyone,
I have read most of the posts in this thread and I'd like to add
something. I have only 9 years teaching experience (music ed. K-12)
althought I could have taught 18 yrs. I am 42 yrs. old. Recently,
there was a music position available at my daughters school. I
called and spoke with the principal. He seemed to like the idea of
hiring me since he knew me. Although, he called the superindendent
and was told that I have too many years experience!!! That is the
2nd school corp. that has told me I have too many yrs. exp. They are
being told to hire new teachers, because I am too expensive! I fear
that I may never teach again!!! I dont' know what to do! I'm
teaching preschool now (and making very little money). I am thinking
of quiting my job and becoming a sub. in the 3 closest school
corporations, hoping that if they (administrators) get to know me
and my qualifications, they may hire me even though I have too many
years.
Thanks for listening!
Teresa
