You would have to pay "liquidation of damages" in our district.
After May 15 is a small amount ( I forget the exact amount) and
it increases then during the summer and is several thousand if
you try to get out of your contract after school starts. In
fact, they don't have to release you if they can show that
replacing you would be a hardship. That's the way it is in our
negotiated agreement, which I guess vary district to district.
Can you call your union/KNEA rep or uniserv office and ask for
help?
Good luck and hope you enjoy OK !
