Teachers in Kansas and elsewhere spend an average of $1200 of their own money each year on classroom supplies. This week U.S. Cellular launched a $ 1 million campaign to fund classroom needs and help teachers alleviate some of their budget. Calling All Teachers encourages teachers to post their requests on DonorsChoose.org. a philanthropic Web site that helps public school teachers find money for classroom projects that exceed their limited budgets. U.S. Cellular is funding up to $1 million in projects. The projects they have selected to fund will be announced during Teachers Appreciation Week, May 4-8.

Teachers throughout Kansas have already posted requests for projection screens, musical instruments and books for a classroom library.

Please help us spread the word to Kansas teachers so that they can post their projects on DonorsChoose.org as soon as possible. The cut off is May 1 but it takes a few days for projects to appear on the website.

Didi This is a great way to receive materials for your classroom. I, personally, have received 6 grants. I have received tons of posters, printers, paper cutters, paper, cardstock, etc that I would have otherwise purchased on my own or done without. It doesn't take much time and is very easy. Good Luck. I'll be writing several more once I move to Kansas...See More
