You're worrying too much. The education classes are easy. Too
easy. Mostly a waste of time. You will learn much more in your
first two years of teaching. In fact, you could learn more in the
next five months just by observing your high school teachers
objectively, seeing how they control the class and how they teach.
You will see good and bad, things to emulate, things not to do. And
tell them you want to teach and talk to them about it.
The portfolio. Is not hard. It is a waste of time, something
invented by pedants at the department of education as something to
show off. It is not a big problem, just something that takes some
time.
I'm a mentor. I'm mentoring a couple of teachers right now and have
mentored several new teachers in the last few years. I've also
assessed new teachers. Don't worry about this. If you are eager
and dedicated, you will do fine. Becoming a teacher is easy.
Becoming a good teacher is what is hard, and that just takes some
time.
The CLUs. Don't worry about that. Your district, your principal,
your mentor will all make sure you meet CLU requirements once you're
on the job, which will probably change by the time you get through
with college. One thing we know the department of education will
do is change things. They are unhappy giving people a stationary
target to shoot at.
Relax. It will all be fine if you are willing to work hard and get
things done on time, and with your concern, I don't think that will
be a problem for you.
