Re: Now if you really want to get some good teaching experience

AND lend a hand in the rebuilding effort, you could come apply in EBR. Baton Rouge is now the largest city in the state. WHY? Because so many New Orleanians did want to leave New Orleans, or couldn't return, but do not want to leave south Louisiana, so this is the next best thing. (East Baton Rouge Parish, along with Ascension Parish, and St. John's Parish are the ones that stand between here and New Orleans, which sprawls over not just Orleans Parish but also Jefferson Parish and St. Tammany Parish and - oops, forgot the name of the one on the West Bank.) We are bursting at the seams with the Katrina Kids. We are facing tremendous challenges, and could use some positive people who want to make a difference. And our pay scale isn't on a par with what you see in some parts of the country, but after you find a place to live, the cost of living isn't too bad, so that money goes a lot further. We haven't really begun to post our openings. The test scores come out Tuesday, and we will know a lot more about what we are facing, but we are going to be hiring LOTS of teachers after the budget passes (the end of June). Keep an eye on our job openings!
