I am just wondering how tight the market is. In most districts
here in Houston, you fill out the online app, even go to the
job fairs, but unless you make face-to-face contact (best way
anywhere) your application isn't even looked at. Based on job
fair attendance, I would guess there are at least 100
applicants for every opening. I have even heard that some
districts hire almost exclusively from their sub lists (great
if you can do that, but not so great if you're single and need
a steady, if low, income and medical benefits). Is it that
tight in the outlying parishes? (If I do make this decision,
I will go in either during my spring break, March 16-20, or
early June to drop off resumes and possibly meet principals.)
Before I make any decisions, I would like to know more about
how competitive it is in the area.
