    More accomplishments from "that school". If these graduates are
    representatives of the "diploma mills", then give me a "diploma
    mill" like Walden anyday!

    The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership

    2007
    Dr. Jim Lehmann, who earned an Ed.D. with a specialization in
    Teacher Leadership, is president of The Foundation for Center
    for Research of Whales which promotes environmental education
    and research in Ecuador.

    2006
    Joan Elizabeth Miller, who earned an M.S. in Education with a
    specialization in Elementary Reading and Literacy, was
    recognized in the ninth and 10th editions of Who’s Who Among
    America’s Teachers.

    2005
    Bri-Anne Alleyne, who earned an M.S. in Education with a
    specialization in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, was
    named assistant principal at a New York City special education
    school. She is currently enrolled in Walden’s Ed.D. program
    with a specialization in Administrator Leadership for Teaching
    and Learning.

    2004
    Shawn Beaudette, who earned his M.S. in Education, was named
    a “Teacher of the Year” in the Prior Lake-Savage Area
    (Minnesota) school district for 2007-08.

    School of Counseling and Social Service

    2006
    Dr. Steven Gilbert, who earned a Ph.D. in Human Services with a
    specialization in Criminal Justice, provides an annual $500
    award through the Gilbert Forensic Science Scholarship for
    criminal justice or criminal investigations to students at the
    State University of New York, Canton. Gilbert also founded the
    Omega Upsilon chapter of the Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice
    Honor Society.

    School of Health Sciences

    2006
    Cori Ofstead, who earned her M.S. in Public Health, co-authored
    two articles published in the February 2008 issue of Infection
    Control and Hospital Epidemiology—“Influenza Vaccination Among
    Registered Nurses” and “Receptivity to Mandatory Influenza
    Vaccination Policies for Healthcare Workers Among Registered
    Nurses Working on Inpatient Units.”

    2005
    Dr. Marcia E. Hall, who earned a Ph.D. in Health Services, was
    the lead author and researcher on a co-authored article
    titled “Military Sexual Trauma Services for Women Veterans in
    the Veterans Health Administration: The Patient-Care Practice
    Environment and Perceived Organizational Support” published in
    Psychological Services, a peer-reviewed American Psychological
    Association (APA) journal.

    School of Management

    2005
    Gary Allen Johnson, who earned an M.B.A., is working toward
    earning a teaching credential in December 2008.

    2002
    Dr. Mary Fischer-McKee, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied
    Management and Decision Sciences, contributed a chapter
    titled “What Is a Leader?” to the book Women as Leaders:
    Strategies for Empowerment & Communication (Professional Woman
    Publishing, 2007). Dr. Fischer-McKee plans to appear with her
    co-authors at a book signing at the Professional Woman Network
    International Conference in Louisville, Ky., (Sept. 12–14,
    2008).

    1994
    Dr. Shamir Andrew Ally, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied
    Management and Decision Sciences, is listed in the Marquis
    Who's Who in Finance and Business 2008-2009, 36th edition.

    School of Nursing

    2007
    Theresa Brosche, who earned an M.S. degree in Nursing,
    presented her capstone project as a poster at the National
    League for Nursing Faculty Leadership Conference in Orlando,
    Fla., in January. Her poster was awarded the “Best Graduate
    Student Poster.”

    2007
    Gayla Love, who earned an M.S. degree in Nursing with a
    specialization in Education, accepted a position as the
    director for the practical nursing program at Griffin Technical
    College.

    2007
    Gregg A. Thompson, who earned an M.S. degree in Nursing, was
    promoted to assistant professor (nursing) for a single purpose
    baccalaureate of nursing degree program at MedCentral College
    of Nursing in Mansfield, Ohio.

    1983
    Marilyne Gustafson, who earned an M.S. degree in Nursing,
    received the 2007 Distinguished Alumni Humanitarian Award from
    the University of Minnesota School of Nursing Alumni Society.

    School of Psychology

    2003
    Dr. Michael P. Hand, who earned a Ph.D. in Psychology, recently
    completed a two-year post-doctoral program in
    psychopharmacology through Texas A&M University. Dr. Hand
    continues with his private practice in El Paso, Texas.

    2001
    Dr. Susan Walsh, who earned a Ph.D. in Psychology, was licensed
    as a psychologist in Texas in January 2008.
