Re: Early Childhood 02 MTEL
Posted by Mrs. D on 6/21/08

    Hi Mrs. R.

I have certification in El. Ed and since the position I had
this year included time in K, I figured I take the test and
see if I could pass to add another certification and make
myself more marketable. I took it last fall and am happy to
    say I passed.

Honestly, I can't even remember any math questions! That in
itself tells me that if there was any math, it wasn't that
    difficult.

What I do remember walking out of there and being ticked off
about was I had to locate the "Bay of Bengal" on a map
(c'mon - relevance to early childhood?) as well as a
philosophical question (not factual - involving the sinking
of the Lucitainia sp - or bombing of Pearl Harbor) asking
why the U.S. entered WWI AND WWII. That was a multiple
choice question though, so at least I had a 25% chance.

I can't remember the specific essay question, but I do
recall it was very similar to the sample one given on the
MTEL site/practice test. Something about giving you a
concept and asking how you would teach it???

    Good luck with the test!
