Post: What keeps you in this field?
Posted by Debbi on 11/07/08
Hello,
My name is Debbi Pisari and I am a student at Northeastern
University, Boston, MA. I am writing a paper on the
difficulties of hiring and retaining childcare
professionals as it pertains to childcare centers.
I have developed a confidential and anonymous
questionnaire that I am hoping you could fill out.
Hopefully, it will help me in developing solutions to the
dilemmas that face many childcare directors.
I have included the questionnaire for you to look over and
if this is something that you would or could participate
in, I would greatly appreciate it. You can forward your
answers to my email address. debbipisari@yahoo.com
I have called multiple local centers in Massachusetts and
the directors have told me that they would not be
interested in participating in this survey so that's why I
am posting here.
Thank you so much in advance,
Debbi Pisari
Staff Questionnaire---
How long have you been in the childcare field?
What is your educational level?
What led you to enter this field?
Are you involved in making decisions affecting your job?
Do you feel your work is important?
Do you feel valued as an employee?
Why do you think people leave this field?
At your place of employment, what enticements are offered
to motivate you to stay?
Are these enticements appealing to you? If not, what
would appeal to you?
When do these enticements become effective? (Upon hire,
after 3 months, 2 years, etc)
Why do you stay at your current position?
Are you satisfied with your job?
Are there benefits, rewards, or enticements that you think
could or should be offered to help staff remain with the
company?
What would help make you feel better about your position
and company?
