Re: teacher salaries and housing in mass.
    Posted by lesley on 11/22/08

Ooops! I forgot to say that didn't I? I am a special education
teacher credentialed for K-12, moderate disabilities.
California has a high cost of living as well, so i am used to a
certain amount, as I said i'll have to budget but will I have
to struggle? i know it's a district thing, but on average, what
does a classroom teacher make yearly? (lets say third year
since I don't know how that transfers) Do you like your
    benefits?
How high are taxes for common items, (food gas etc.)
Are there many districts within commuting distance of the
general Gloucester area? Also I've heard there may be a problem
finding rentals because many use them for tourists? These are
pretty common problems for vacation areas. I guess I am just
trying to gauge there against here.
I live in a beautiful coastal town that has huge tourism during
the summer so i know what to expect. I am just trying to figure
if it is worse, better, or much the same there in the East.
Does the area have a sense of community at all, or is it just a
    burb for Boston?
I know I have alot to ask!, but really just want to hear
    anything anyone has to say.
    Thanks
