Post: Reading test
Posted by Jody on 5/09/09
I recently got my license for Early Childhood, but I also
found out that I cannot teach moderate disabilities
students even though I went through a whole year of
preparation unless I pass the General Curriculum. If
anyone is in that situation I would like to open a
petition to send to the DOE requesting that teachers with
an early childhood license and who went to a moderate
disabilities training should be allowed to be compensated
with the license without taking the GC. I do not see the
point because there is nothing in the GC or the Early
childhood that is related to Moderate disabilities. They
are saying you cannot detect a disability at such a
young age, why are they asking people to be certify in
moderate disabilities even in early childhood. I think if
we start with the petition they can take another look at
the requirement for moderate disability in EC. A lot of
you can be more likely to find a job.
Let's roll the ball!!!
