Re: appealing the mtel results
Hi...thank your for your feedback...Yes, I am well aware of the MCAS
alternative assessement...I believe in assessments, however, specifically
regarding the MCAS, I do not feel the outcome should be a requirement for
graduation, but rather a learning tool to identify progress and areas that
need improvement. With that said, I must restate, that my friend has
passed the reading section and missed the writing by 1 point...he
successfully completed an M.Ed, by an great state teaching college, worked
extremely hard on a thesis, etc...so, I feel 1 point, well, it's
ridiculous in my opinion...I am a parent and a special educator, and would
feel completely comfortable with this person as my child's teacher... I
can only hope he passes this next time...I find that the people who are
giving feedback stating that these MTEL tests seem to be an appropriate
method of assessing teachers, all appear to have already passed the
test...if you all could put yourselves in this guys shoes...it might be
more understandable...I will still stand by my original opinon...the MTEL
does not identify a good teacher from a bad teacher...it is a money making
opportunity and soley identifies those who test well...I will agree to
disagree with you and thank you for your feedback...
