No, there's no way around the MTEL exams. My suggestion would be to
take a workshop and buy the MTEL book. You do have to study if you
want to pass this exam. English is my second language and it was
very difficult for me to cram for this exam, but I feel if I was able
to do it on my first attempt it can be done.
The other recommendation I would make is to take the writing exam on
a different day as the reading exam. You will have more brain power
to get this done properly if you split them up.
