I have a Bachelors degree in history (from 1998), but want
to be an English teacher (Grades 8-12).
I have taken 3 grad level education courses...
I took and passed the MTEL (Literacy and communication)
I took and passed the MTEL subject test (English)
My hope is to be an English teacher- would the fact my
major as an undergrad was history disqualify me from
getting my teachers licence?
I am in the process of applying to grad school, my focus
being English .
It's just that I read that when applying for the licence,
one might be asked to submit syllabi from past courses as
proof they have studied the subject they want to teach.
Most of my undergrad courses were history courses, as
opposed to English or literature courses...
Yet I did pass the English subject test of the MTEL....
