To get your certification, you have to:
Enroll in a MD Accredited teaching program, that includes one
year of internship in a public school (one full semester of
student teaching, another of helping/observing/etc).
You must pass the PRAXIS 1, get fingerprinted and background
checked by the state and FBI before student teaching.
You can graduate by doing the above, but you have to pass the
PRAXIS II in your content area to become certified and get hired.
With a previous BA, it will probably take 3 semesters (instead
of 5 years starting from fresh)
The process is a complete pain in the A$$, but TOTALLY worth it,
I love my job!
