Posted by Missing MI on 1/13/08 Ok, so that GA dude hates me. I had it good in MI. Not as good here. But I guess teachers are the only people expected to be happy when they take pay cuts. Anyway, yes if you want a job then leave MI. It's the only choice. I taught in Birmingham Public Schools-made 70,000 after teaching only 8 years, but the GA dude expects me to be happy with 50,000. And my insurance is B'ham rocked! We moved for my husband's career-a teacher without a job in MI. Taught in Detroit, charter schools, but nothing to write home about. My husband LOVES his job in Gwinnett County, GA. Mine isn't horrible, but not so great either. For a new teacher who really wants to teach, I recommend looking in other states, whether it be Ga or wherever. I can pretty much guarantee you would get a job if you moved to GA. They are begging for teachers!!!! The weather is incredible and we love hiking in and around the mountains.
