    Since you're a Northern Grad, I hope you aren't looking for
    cost of living the same as the UP! Thats just not going to
    happen in very many places.

    Chicago area is nice and has been good for me. Cost of living
    is higher than MI, most places are, but not too much higher if
    you pick the right suburb. There are teaching jobs in special
    ed, billingual Spanish, ESL, Math, and Science. Its just as
    bad as MI in other fields though.

    Suburban DC, in both VA and MD are not bad. Pay is good and
    cost of living has come down a bit since the housing bubble
    burst. Definite need for teachers out there!

    Those are the two areas I'm familiar with.
