Eh, I have to disagree with you there. I've looked into NCs
benefits, and while they're good, they're expensive. It costs a
sizable chunk of your already small check to insure family members.
NC has jobs for two reasons. Yes, the population's growing as
people move away from winter, and because the compensation is very
poor. Many of these "high demand" states and areas have such a need
for teachers because they loose the ones they have early in their
careers. Educated people just don't want to be broke and
struggling. If you're happy in NC, great! However, if you were
offered a job in MI or another high paying, good benefits state like
Connecticut, NY, or Illinois, would you take it? If you wouldn't,
many of your collegues in the South would.

Most are wealthy businessmen who are also trying to convince us that
NAFTA and WTO creates jobs and doesn't hurt anyone. The only people
they convince are the politicians they pay off. North Carolina is
nice area, but if the future of America is the salary and benefits
of North Carolina, then its a dark future for all of us.

Obviously those who are happy don't come back to MI. Why would you?
MI has many, many, many problems that don't have anything to do
with cold weather and snow. I can see many reasons to move, but
every area has its negatives and NC certainly has many. This is a
life altering decision for new and laid off teachers to move, and
they shouldn't jump at the first state that offers an interview.
Like I said, there's a reason they need all these teachrs and its
    not all growth.
