Re: Resumes
Posted by Job Hunter on 4/12/08

You are right that the business world and the education world is
different. However, you have to remember that no matter which we
are talking of, the purpose of the resume is to get the INTERVIEW
and the purpose of the interview is to get the JOB. Two pages or
one page, you have to remember this is the order of things.

I have a one page and get calls for interviews. I loose the job
often because I already have a master's and am dealing with that
whole "we can't pay you" thing. But that is a whole other issue
    for another posting.....

In the end, decide which one you want, and be comfortable with it.
There are SO many factors with resumes and who is reading them.
Some people getting resumes like 2 pages, some like only 1....just
like some people like the font Verdana and some like
Garamond....just like some people want to see experience listed
first on the resume and others like the education section
first......in other words, there are so many factors coming into
the resume and application process you just can't control. As it
is, getting a job sometimes is the forces of the cosmos (or
whatever you believe) coming together at that moment in time, and
you have to get the right person looking at your resume that has
the same opinions on it as you do. And you go in not knowing what
that is going in. Give yourself the best chances with what you
    feel is right.
