When I was finishing my program on 2007 my last seminar before
graduating one of the professors in charge of the seminar made a
statement that was very interesting and sad. Michigan churns out
about 5,000 new teachers each year. within 3 years 1/2 of them do
not renew their cetificate or apply for a professional certificate.
It is unknown if they move to other states and receive
certification there, as I am doing, or if they just get out of
teaching altogether. That is very sad though, a single state
putting out 5,000 teachers a year.
