I had a similar situation in my 6-8 self contained special ed
room last year. I'll be straight--I don't know how it's
possible to hit the GLCEs for each year. I just looked at all
three years and took one GLCE from each for social studies and
science. Language Arts has some overlap and their Math skills
were so low that we had to just start where they were.
You are right--there is now way you can teach two social
studies classes, two science classes, etc.
I'm sorry--I don't mean to be negative, but I don't think it's
probable and it's way too much to ask of you, IMHO. I would
suggest picking a GLCE and maybe, if possible, trying to work
the other GLCEs in some other way. (I.e. having the kids do a
poetry unit on one of the social studies topics).
Best to you!
