Three years is the max for the district I taught in. I receive a letter
every year asking whether I will continue my leave or come back for a
position. I think anyone in my shoes would do the same thing. Yes, I
left MI-and one of the reasons I left was because I knew I had the
security to return if things didn't work out. And things really aren't
working out in my current situation. I am not the only teacher on
leave. Any teacher who is on leave for any reason can decide to return.
