Re: Any jobs? Has anyone worked at Ben Ross Academy in Warrn

At this publice school I work at in AZ, we get two reams of paper
per month and are limited to the number of copies we make per month
even if we buy our own paper. The school does not supply us with
pencils, lined paper, notebooks or folders for the students. They
basically supply us with nothing. More than half of my students
didn't bring in their requested supplies after I had asked so many
times at meet the teacher night, and again in newsletter after
newsletter home.
We also have to participate in certain amounts of prof. development
on Wednesdays that we don't get paid for. They are even trying to
make us have to do 24 hours on Saturdays throughout the year.
And this is a big suburb in the W Valley area. It isn't a rural
town or inner city either. I work in a brand new building that was
opened just over a year ago. I guess the teachers just figure they
are lucky to have jobs and dont complain about anything or ask any
questions.
I spent so much of my own money on supplies for my classroom that
the school didn't provide. They don't give you anything at all to
spend on your classroom. We got textbooks, a bookshelf, desks, and
that's basically it. They don't even supply dry erase markers for
our boards, pencils, papers or anything.
Think long and hard before you decide to relocate. Ask lots of
questions, especially about the health insurance. I know the pay
is higher in some areas of TX, but health insurance can be costly
for families. I am not sure how it fares in comparison to cost of
living.
But, think twice before coming to Arizona. I would never come back
again and am applying to nursing school as a last resort to come
back to Michigan.
