Actually, You are under contract for what, 180 days?
The fact that you receive summer paychecks is simply due to
the fact that your paycheck is divided into twelfths rather
than just the actual teaching months.
You said your contract is from August through July??? Does it
actually say that? Or does it specify the number of days?
My contract (in Missouri) states 180 days.
