Re: "at will" state and what that means
Posted by ShowMe Tchr on 2/25/09

I can help with the "at will" terms. I have worked in both charter
and public schools. In the charter schools, my contract was an at
will contract which meant I could break the contract without the
consequences that come from breaking a contract at a public school.
At the same time, they could break their contract with me whenever
they chose for any reason. Thankfully my contract was this way since
I had difficulties with my adminstration concerning fighting in the
classroom. They did not want me to write the students up for it and I
did not agree, so I invoked my at will terms and left that position
before the end of the year. Hope this clears it up for you.
