    I agree with poster above. It involves a LOT more higher level
    thinking skills than we've been used to in the past. The kids (6th
    grade -- I did LA and Rdg) were not stumped so much by not knowing
    the correct rote response as much as having to figure out the how
    and why of the questions.
    The why can only be taught by asking the why. We're programmed now
    to teach reading strategies, story elements, etc. from the
    framework. Now it's all higher-level thinking. I'll be doing a
    lot of reading this summer!
