Cannot stress what the others said enough--classroom
management is key.
Have procedures laid out for everything and be ready to
consistently enforce the rules. Middle school kids are
keenly aware of injustice so try to be fair and equal in all
of your classroom discipline problems. Try not to get into a
back-and-forth with a child. This is harder than it sounds.
If someone riles you up or wants to argue, then tell them in
a calm voice that you will be happy to talk to them later
about it. Repeat until they realize they won't get anywhere.
Good luck!
