Re: How do us northerners obtain a job in NC?

I came down here from Pennsylvania in 1997. We called CMS
(Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools) and they asked us to come
down for an interview. They called us down, because they
were ready to set us up with jobs that they had available for
us. We (my husband and I) interviewed and were hired the
same day. After being told of their decision, we promptly
found an apartment and signed a lease and made arrangements
to sell our house up North.
You should come down here and interview in person. That is
important to do, because you want to see the school setting
and have the opportunity to meet with the people you will be
working with. You may or may not like what you see and
hear. I would never interview for a job by phone, especially
in an area that is so far away. You will need to get a good
feel for the area in which you want to move.
They do have phone interviews here, but most of those people
do not stay on the job. Either the candidate decides that
he/she doesn't like the job, or the principal doesn't like
the candidate.
