Re: Senior Project is killing me!

My county has us prepping the students for the senior project
starting in 6th grade. At least, that was the line last
school year. We haven't heard much this year.
I, too, am pondering retirement, and for much of the same
reasons. The educrats in raleigh won't let us teach, keep
presenting new "hoops" for ourselves and our students to jump
through, keep throwing up new obstacles to student learning
and teacher autonomy, continue inventing new ways to make
our jobs harder than they already are and all, supposedly,
in the name of "accountability, closing the gap, raising the
bar...." I have lost count of all the latest buzz words and
panaceas....
As some have already mentioned here, much of this isn't for
the kids, but is done to validate high paying jobs at central
office and DPI. "Education reform" has, long ago, put the
true needs of our students on the back burner and begun to
reduce our job to that of manager and statistician.
The only thing that is going to halt this runaway train is if
enough parents get righteous (gracious knows that NO ONE
listens to us) and lay siege to the palaces of bureaucracy
that our educational system has become yoked to
