Post: Please tell me about what is involved in being a substitute

    Posted by Angela on 9/23/08

    Hi,

Please tell me about what is involved in being a substitute
teacher at the high school level. Assume I have done the
    appropriate paperwork, fingerprinting, background checks,
    etc.

What time in the morning do I get a call?

If a teacher I am subbing for is unexpectedly ill, does
that mean I will not have his or her lesson plan?

    Am I basically "baby-sitting"?

Am I expected to accept, say 75% of the calls, or will I be
    removed from the list?

    Thanks.
