Hi, my union rep is being totally unhelpful in finding me this information. I've contacted NJEA and no one is getting back to me. I'm considering resigning from my college instructor position.

I need to know if there are any NJEA or state mandates that determine whether colleges/schools need to continue health benefits in the summer for employees who are not returning in the fall. I thought my summer benefits were tied to the previous year's work, even though I'm a 10 months employee, but I'm not sure. I don't want to ask HR because I don't want them to know I'm considering resigning.

Does anyone have any experience with this, or know someone in NJEA or the state that might have information? There is nothing specifically about when health benefits end in our contract that I can see.

Thanks!
Marian I don't know about College contracts, but I resigned from a district position before the summer, actually in the spring and my health benefits ended on my last day of school. Guess I should have resigned closer to the end of summer.
